Award voor Prins Bernhard Culturele Prijs Noord Holland
Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds invited Gerrit Rietveld Academie/Buro Rietveld to design the award of their annual cultural prize, the ‘Prins Bernhard Culturele Prijs Noord-Holland’. Students were asked to design a tailor made award for the winner 'De Stem van Haarlem'.
The department designLAB was chosen to select a designer amongst their students, student Eva Verheul was chosen to design the award. Verheul decided to make a vivid award: a music box made of Cocobolo wood, a wood that is normally used to make exclusive guitars. The music played in the music box is the song: ‘I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing’ by The New Seekers. On the music box the city of Haarlem is shown, made of laser cutted pallisander, to refer to the habitat of De Stem van Haarlem.
