Rietveld at Brno Biennial

The International Biennial of Graphic Design Brno is one of the oldest and most significant events of its kind, reflecting developments in graphic design and visual culture for more than 50 years. The theme of the 26th edition 18.6. till 26.10 is education in the field of graphic design and visual communication. Henk Groenendijk organized two exhibitions for the OFF Program, an open space program connected to the main program focussing on workshops, exhibitions, lectures and activities related to graphic design. For the Basic Year he created, in cooperation with Jakub Straka and Lotte van Gelder, WORDPLAY a colorful show&workshop related to the online Design Theory program Designblog. 2500 unique 'tag-words' present a slice of the minds of our international student community at work. Designblog 2007-2014 is a dynamic platform for publishing research and graduation essays. For the department of Graphic design he composed from his personal collection of student works the exhibit OBSTRUCTION x 5 one of the departments classic assignments. The posters and documentation material on display in this exposition give insight to the design process that sends students of the 1st year through a reflective purgatory, with unexpected explorative results. Both exhibits were prepared with the cooperation of our photography-, wood-, computer- and print workshop
